Downtime for abbott

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Sadly there was a problem with abbott late last night which caused it to reboot. Due to a network interface setup timing issue the main virtual network bridge, which connects all VMs to the public network, failed to come up. All VMs migrated to abbott last night were unfortunately down until 7:30am when I was able to bring them back onto the network. This included:

  • bcfg2-prod.ilrt.bris.ac.uk
  • cos-dep.ilrt.bris.ac.uk
  • pkg-dx86.ilrt.bris.ac.uk
  • www10-rtilrt.ilrt.bris.ac.uk
  • www17-perl-demo.ilrt.bris.ac.uk
  • www18-php-demo.ilrt.bris.ac.uk
  • www20-php.ilrt.bris.ac.uk
  • www5-perl.ilrt.bris.ac.uk
  • www7-jdm.ilrt.bris.ac.uk

The cause of the reboot is at this stage unknown. The only outstanding issue with Debian Lenny and Xen which had not been resolved at the time of the reboot is a problem with clock sources in Xen. We had not seen any evidence in logs that this was a probable cause here. I will investigate further.
